Episode 57 opens with Mehmed pressing Vlad Tepesh on the attack against Mahmud Pasha, and Vlad answers with witnesses and a calm face. The fallout lands on Janissary Agha Zeynel, while Kurtcu Dogan risks his own head to protect the guild. Soon the army looks toward Isfendiyar, Zaganos Pasha slips into enemy lands to find Ismail Bey, and Vlad rides to Pontus after the relics. Molla Lutfi keeps chasing a truth nobody wants to hear.
Vlad Answers Mehmed’s Questions
Mehmed asks Vlad where he was the night Mahmud Pasha was stabbed and why his boots were muddy and his hands bloody. Vlad says he was outside the camp with his soldiers, digging places for tents on rocky ground. Two Walachian commanders confirm his story before the Sultan, and Mehmed sends Molla Lutfi away with a warning never to bring such accusations again. The Sultan then turns to Janissary Agha Zeynel, whose carelessness nearly cost the campaign. Mahmud Pasha receives the blood right, and Zeynel is taken to a tent for his execution.
Kurtcu Dogan Offers His Own Life
Zeynel gives away his few belongings to the guild and asks that his robes and helmet go to Kurtcu Dogan. As the sentence is about to be carried out, Dogan arrives and offers his own life instead, saying those who leave a companion on the road are no companion. Zeynel is spared with a warning. Later Mehmed confronts Dogan about surrounding the imperial tent with Janissaries and tells him to let the matter rest. Zeynel then tells Dogan that Janissaries saw Vlad near the Grand Vizier’s tent that night.

Isfendiyar, Pontus and the Relics
Mahmud Pasha lays out the march through Cankiri, Ilgaz and Kastamonu toward Isfendiyar Castle. Mehmed would rather win Ismail Bey over than shed Muslim blood, so he sends Zaganos Pasha to find him and gives a week. Zaganos accepts Sahabeddin and Samil Bey as company, and learns in town that Ismail is in prison. Meanwhile Vlad asks leave to go to Pontus after the relics with Irene’s help, and the Pontic emperor tells Draven to strike Mehmed from behind. The Sultan’s patience runs short as the deadline nears.

No. He is led to the execution tent, but Kurtcu Dogan offers his own life in Zeynel’s place and Zeynel is spared with a warning that both of them will pay if it happens again.
Why does Mehmed send Zaganos Pasha to Isfendiyar?
Mehmed believes Ismail Bey may not be a traitor and wants to convince him to stand against his brother Kasim Bey. He gives Zaganos one week before the army moves.
