Osman Bey Hands Over the Seal
Osman Bey assembles the council and tells his Beys that a Bey should know how to abdicate, just as he knows how to sit on the chair. He grants Orhan the seal of his father Ertugrul Ghazi. Orhan answers that he will not take the beylic unless every Bey pledges loyalty, and nobody objects. Sahinshah Bey stays quiet through it all. Earlier he refused to put his anger aside when Alaeddin spoke to him, and Didar keeps feeding his bitterness. Osman announces that all the Beys of Kayi will gather in Sogut the next day for the ceremony.
Yarhisar, Iznik and the Gold
AbdurRahman and the Alps ride out to Yarhisar, and the castle is back in Kayi hands. Orhan then explains his plan: scare Iznik away from helping Bursa, give Temurtas the gold taken from Iznik to keep him quiet for a while, and let no food reach Bursa. Inside Bursa the silos are empty and some people talk of surrender. Cerkutay goes to Iznik as an envoy to tell Lord Leon that Orhan is coming. Before the caravan raid, AbdurRahman and Kanturali find time for a molasses contest.
