Mahmud Pasha Moves on Pontus
Mahmud Pasha reaches Pontus with around thirty ships and tells the Emperor exactly how weak his castle is: limestone and basalt walls, a secret gateway under the keep, and sea walls already surrounded. His demand is simple. The akinji beys must be handed over by sunset, or the Emperor will be the first to hang from his own walls. Back in the capital, the Sultan welcomes Mahmud Pasha into his council and gives him the preparations for the Pontus campaign. A declaration of war is ordered, though the question of the Grand Vizier’s seal stays open.
The Sultan Goes to the Turkmen
Zaganos Pasha wants harsh punishment, even beheading for the Turkmen who threaten to leave, while Ishak Pasha brings a different view to the Sultan. Mehmed rebukes Zaganos and says a Turk Istanbul cannot be built by beheading every mistake. He then visits the Turkmen alone and finds them packing, afraid that the fate prepared for Candarli will come for them too. The Sultan answers that tradition and Sharia will decide, not his anger, and he invites them to build tomorrow’s Istanbul together.

Janissaries on the Edge
Dogan Agha asks the Sultan for mercy for Candarli and leaves with nothing. Back at the guild, Cihangir Agha and Ayaz Agha plan to march on the court and the palace, and Dogan must face his own men. Ishak also tells Dogan who killed Baltaoglu, which shakes him further. Atmaca, meanwhile, carries Candarli’s messages to the Turkmen and the guild. The trial opens before the Qadi, where Candarli denies the charges against him. How far the Janissaries will go is left for you to watch.
