Episode 67 opens with the Janissary pot plundering and moves quickly to the fall of a Grand Vizier. Mahmud Pasha loses his seal, Ishak Pasha takes the office, and Sultan Mehmed turns his attention to the march on Bosnia. Meanwhile Vlad Dracula wins back the Pope’s trust, the Bogomil village comes under attack, and Queen Katarina looks for gold to feed the Hungarian army. Mahmud Pasha Loses the Seal
After the rebellion, Sultan Mehmed asks his council what the state gained from a Grand Vizier with such vast authority. He reminds Mahmud Pasha that he agreed to every request, from Kurtcu’s rise to Huseyin’s post as Janissary Agha, and asked for only one thing: peace among the Janissaries before the war. Mahmud is ordered to return the seal. The Sultan spares his life but says he does not want to see him in the council again. He then calls Ishak to him, and Ishak is sent to the guild to restore order.
Ishak Pasha Takes the Guild
The new Grand Vizier visits the Janissaries and tells them the story of a ram and a herd of sheep. He warns them not to act with the herd mind, and the Janissaries pledge to stand with him. He also introduces a chest for every Orta, to be filled from the spoils and used to pay retired soldiers. Zaganos and Dogan Pasha both doubt the plan. Dogan then visits Mahmud Pasha, who warns him about Ishak, and the Sultan sends Huseyin Agha to Dogan with a message of unity.

Queen Katarina travels to Targoviste and asks for Wallachian lands as an assurance for three million ducats from the merchants of Ragusa. Radu agrees on his brother Vlad’s behalf and goes with her. The Sultan has already learned of the plan from his spies, and Radu loads grain onto a ship bound for Bosnia. Ali Kuscu of Samarkand also arrives in Constantinople.
