Episode 29 opens with Mevlana speaking about existence and nothingness while Konya waits for the Mongols, who are only two days away. Konya Prepares for the Mongol Army
The messenger returns with grim news: the Mongols will reach Konya in two days. Sultan Giyaseddin Keyhusrev gives no order and tells his men to ask his father, Alaeddin Keykubad, who died long ago. Kemaleddin Effendi urges Gurcu Hatun to leave the city with the Shahzade, but she says she cannot go unless the Sultan wants it. Soldiers are placed on the walls, boiling oil is readied, and the remaining townspeople are given swords and shields. The officers credit Omer Atabeg for training the people to fight before the threat arrived.
Grief and Anger in Mevlana’s Circle
Grief runs through the household. Kiramana stays silent over Kimya, and she is told that her hidden love was seen and heard. Cennet Hatun adds that she saw her own daughter’s face in Kiramana. Outside, Halid Effendi and others say Sems is to blame for Kimya’s death, and Alaaddin swears he will take revenge on Sems a thousand times. Bahaeddin and Selahaddin Effendi try to bring Alaaddin back, but he threatens to burn the whole city, and a fire breaks out.

Elsewhere, a mother tells her young son they are heading to Larende. Serefeddin tells a crowd to either submit to Selahaddin Zerkub or do away with him, and Selahaddin answers that judgment belongs to Allah.
