Episode 13 brings the Dilaver Bey affair to a hard close in Brusa. Yosef turns on his former master, the Qadi weighs the fate of the two schemers, and their families pay for what the men did. Orhan prepares to leave the city, Zisan makes a painful choice, and Mahmud Effendi carries the heavy weight of his office. Yosef Turns on Dilaver Bey
The episode opens with a bitter clash. Yosef accuses Dilaver Bey of destroying his father and says he waited years to see him in this state. Dilaver answers that the father was a thief and a liar, and that he himself sent Yosef pocket money and gave him a place of fame and fortune. Yosef replies that he will take everything Dilaver owns and leave. Dilaver shouts that he will find him. The scene sets up what follows, because Yosef’s plan to escape with chests of gold soon runs into the Commander.
The Qadi Decides Their Fate
Dilaver blames Mahmud Effendi for his ruin, but the Qadi answers that the offence is great and still not punishable by death. He says they honor justice, not their nafs. Yosef offers the Commander a bribe, yet the Commander brings him and Aron before the Qadi, who sentences both to execution at dawn for the murder of Qadi Burhaneddin. In the cell, Yosef and Dilaver trade blame, and Yosef tells the story of how he left Sheikh Uftade. Dilaver’s sentence of banishment to Manisa comes later.

Families Left Behind in Brusa
Orhan says goodbye to his teacher before moving to Iznik with his mother, Zisan Hatun, who turns Safiye away at the door. Zisan then tells Dilaver in prison that they part ways, even as he begs her to stay. Meanwhile, Yusuf shows off his boat water clock, which signals the namaz time. Mahmud Effendi grows more tired and withdrawn, and the Commander asks Sheikh Uftade to advise him. The episode ends with the Qadi’s state of mind left as an open question.
