“Now you will see who the wolf and the dog are!”
Episode 13 of Kuruluş Orhan opens with Temurtas in chains and the Shahzades racing to safety after a failed abduction attempt. Orhan then parades his captive before the envoys of the neighboring Beylics, while Asporca, Flavius and Alaeddin deal with a Byzantine court that is turning on itself. Fatma’s engagement is settled, Nasuh Celebi challenges the mosque architect, and a tense request for the port of Biga puts Demirhan Bey on guard.
Temurtas in Chains, the Children Out of Reach
The children travel in carriages that are swapped at different points on the road, and the alps beat back the men who were ordered to seize Orhan’s sons. One attacker admits only that Temurtas gave the order. Soon after, Temurtas is a prisoner, and Orhan says he needs him alive. At the tribe the women start preparing a victory celebration. Orhan then invites the neighboring Beylics to witness Temurtas in chains. In the square he declares the Mongol rule on the frontiers over and swears the borderlands will not be harmed again.
Byzantium Turns on Itself
Alaeddin and Flavius carry the seized letter to the Emperor, who first refuses to believe his grandchild could betray him. Later the Emperor agrees that the Ottoman army may stand between Iznik and Izmit and that a port at Gemlik goes to Orhan. His condition is a marriage between Orhan and Asporca. Asporca is furious and tells Flavius she will neither marry Orhan nor give up Bursa and Iznik. Nilufer openly distrusts her, and a raid on the cave where Temurtas is held leaves old suspicions unresolved. Daphne’s role stays unclear.
