“In my war, there are no rules!”
In Episode 78, Mehmed’s army prepares to cross the Danube while Vlad waits on the western bank. Satilmis Agha, Sahan and Copur build boats and a bridge that serves as bait. Ali Bey is missing after the burning of Nigbolu. Ishak Pasha watches Radu closely, and Mahmud Pasha speaks of an even darker plan. In Targoviste, Dragon’s visit to Katarina takes a dangerous turn. The landing begins in the dark, and the army is soon under fire.
Copur and the Boats for the Danube
Sultan Mehmed knows the bridge will not be ready in time, so he plans to cross by boat instead. At least 70 boats are needed, and Zaganos Pasha says the builders cannot manage without Copur. Copur has worked in Satilmis Agha’s tunnels since his son Hayri drowned in an unfinished boat. The Sultan asks him to pick up the adz again, saying the boats will be the greatest help to the homeland. Copur agrees, and later the Sultan praises his work on the narrow-bottomed hulls.
Choosing the Landing and Doubting Radu
Radu suggests Tulcea, the narrowest point of the river. Lala objects that the current is strongest there. Zaganos Pasha proposes the shore from Svishtov to Zimnicea, where small islets break the current. Mehmed chooses Zimnicea. Meanwhile Omer reports to Ishak Pasha that Radu released a pigeon toward Wallachia. Vlad and his men also discuss the letters Radu sends, and Vlad says he trusts him. Later Mahmud Pasha tells Ishak that Radu should die, and he wants the blame to fall on Vlad’s ambushes.
