“If you don’t know what to build, all you will have in your hands are ruins.”
Episode 21 opens with Mevlana lost in grief, asking whether love or wisdom is greater while his students wait helplessly. Sultan Veled has gone to Damascus to find Shams, and the madrasa feels like a ship without direction. At the palace, Isfahani now holds the title of Vizier and begins tightening his grip, while the Sultan quietly tests who he can trust. Omer Atabek searches for a pearl, and the episode ends with a visitor whose news changes everything.
Mevlana’s Silence and a Leaderless Madrasa
Mevlana withdraws into deep isolation and speaks only in questions about love, wisdom, Leyla and Majnun, and whether a dream can become a person’s reality. The students admit that nothing has changed and ask how long this will last. They are told to pray that Sultan Veled finds Shams in Damascus. Idris Efendi uses the empty seat to approach Selahaddin about leading the madrasa. In the end, after a conversation about emptying the inside and filling it with faith, Mevlana names Selahaddin, who cannot read or write, to guide the people.
Isfahani’s Rise and Idris Efendi’s Orders
Isfahani now calls himself the Vizier of the Seljuk Sultanate and demands to be told everything before anyone acts. He tells Idris Efendi that the vizierate is only temporary for him. He says he needs two things: the sword that defends the Sultan to fall, meaning Omer Atabek, and the Sultan’s mind to abandon him, meaning Gurcu Hatun. Idris is told to keep weakening Mevlana through fitna. Meanwhile the Sultan asks Kemaleddin Kamyar whether the vizier can be trusted, hears a clear no, and asks him to protect his son if something happens.

Omer Atabek Searches for the Pearl
Omer Atabek says he has closed the idol maker’s shop and given up on his old thoughts. He asks an Efendi where he can find a man he compares to a pearl, light in weight but heavy in value. The answer is that he must look in the most remote places and ask the most unlikely people. Elsewhere, a Mongol commander tells his bride that she must obey him, and he offers her silks from Harezm.
