Episode 48 of Vefa Sultan opens with a man shaken by a hunt in which the hunter became the prey, and the Sheikh tells him that reason cannot be the measure of everything. The episode then follows a stolen necklace that comes back to its owners, Leyla in danger while Salman searches for a healing herb, and the arrival of the scholar Molla Izari at the madrasa. Several characters are asked to put down a burden, and not all of them find it easy.
Zulfikar Returns the Necklace
Zulfikar, now called Tovbekar (the repentant one) at the lodge, brings back the necklace of Salman’s mother. Salman and Leyla are delighted until Zulfikar admits that he stole it from their home. Leyla refuses to pardon him. Salman says he would have forgiven a crime against himself alone, but he tells Zulfikar to go his way and stay out of his path. Later Zulfikar tells Vefa Sultan that he could not repair the heart he broke, and the Sheikh answers that only persistence in love and loyalty in affection can revive a wounded heart.
A Search for Yarrow
Leyla’s pain grows severe, and the midwife says she needs a medicine made from the yarrow plant. Salman goes to the herbalist, who warns that yarrow is hard to find this season, then tells him where to look. After a tense search on a slope, Salman finds it and hurries back despite his foot. Leyla keeps calling for him while Belinay Hatun urges her to drink and stay strong for her child. Davud, who spent his life in medicine, keeps carrying firewood from the lodge and says he is searching for meaning.

Molla Izari Comes to the Madrasa
Lutfi and Hace Kamil prepare for the visit of Molla Izari. Lutfi praises his learning, while Hace warns him not to be deceived by flowery words, because there is a thorn behind them. At the caravanserai, Izari insists on appearances and explains to Nazir how words can make one man look like three. He then arrives at the madrasa, where Hace Kamil, Ibrahim Fakih and Zembilli welcome him, and he speaks of the writings on the moon and the astrolabe that he has read.
