Episode 9 of Vefa Sultan turns the lodge into a school of humility. After a painful wedding day, Dervish Mustafa and Yareli receive new missions from the Sheik, while Celaleddin is handed Karamani’s duties and quickly tests everyone’s patience. In Bursa, the Head of Teacher Dilaver hides a worrying wound, and Belinay has a quiet talk with her father. Here is what happens in the episode, which you can watch with English subtitles.
Burned Hands and Broken Hearts
The episode opens at the dervish table, where a hot pot burns a dervish and he is told to begin every task with “in the name of Allah.” Yareli returns from Ayse’s wedding in a heavy mood and says he and Mustafa were deceived by their own will. The Sheik answers that worldly conditions are only a threshold and that the soul must be refined. When Mustafa asks how to discipline himself, he is told to remember he is mortal. Salman also asks the Sheik to help Yareli, who sits crying alone in his room, and Yareli is sent to the stable.
Washing the Dead in Bursa
Karamani takes Mustafa to the Bursa market to gather supplies for washing the dead: shroud cloth, cotton, an apron, black seed, rose water and soap. The Head of Teacher stops Mustafa and offers help, but Mustafa politely declines. At Zinnur Effendi’s perfume shop, his daughter turns him away when he asks for soap. Later Karamani teaches the washing step by step, starting with the head and treating the body gently. The Sheik then speaks about death as the greatest advice and says a person must die before he dies.

It makes watching a video on your TV very convenient because you don’t have to use your TV’s browser (which are often not very user friendly) to find the video and play it on your TV.

- select a TV to which you want to send the video
and video playback will start on your TV.
Note: Your TV and your phone, tablet, laptop or a PC need to be on the same network. It’s usually the case at home but, for example, if your phone is on mobile network and your TV is connected to your home network, casting button won’t show up on your phone because your phone doesn’t “see” your TV because they are not on the same network. Celaleddin, Dilaver and Belinay
With Karamani away, the Sheik puts Celaleddin in charge of the lodge. He hands out strict orders to Kazanci, Ahmed and Salman, and arguments with Malik follow. The Sheik rebukes him with the story of Prophet Solomon, a bird and a dervish who broke its wing. Elsewhere, a doctor warns Dilaver that his carbuncle is serious and urges him to go to Edirne, but Dilaver refuses to let anyone know. Belinay’s father also tells her he will not force a suitor on her. The episode ends on a solemn note.
