In Episode 18 of Vefa Sultan, Sheikh Mustafa and Salman remain locked in the dungeons of Rhodes. The Ustad, who has ruled the prison for thirty years, begins to feel his control slipping. Prisoners are changing, a tense conversation opens between two proud men, and a private plan takes shape. Meanwhile Istanbul faces unrest stirred by Master Leon, Pasa and Haci search for an envoy to send to Rhodes, and Bursa waits anxiously for news.
The Ustad Feels His Rule Slipping
The Ustad notes how fast the new sheikh has moved, influencing nearly every prisoner in a short time. He reminds everyone that he has run this castle for thirty years and will not let a Turkish sheikh with fancy words overthrow his system. The sheikh answers with a sharp question of his own: why were the other prisoners captured at sea while only they were taken from land? He agrees to talk further, but only in front of everyone. Griwas warns his master not to go down to the dungeon, yet the Ustad says he wants to draw Mustafa to their side.
Seeds, Faith and a New Name in the Cell
Inside the cell, Salman doubts that anything can take root in such a place. The sheikh tells him to plant an olive pit anyway, because every ordeal is a test and others will benefit one day. He also tells the story of Ali, who put down his sword once anger entered his heart. A prisoner then asks the sheikh what gives him such peace in a dark prison. After a short conversation he repeats the declaration of faith and is given a new name, Osman, in place of Oswald.

Elsewhere, Molla Celaleddin debates a Christian speaker about God, the Qur’an and the Prophet, while Molla Sirin and Leon watch. In Bursa, Zinnur Effendi and his daughter pray for Mustafa. In the dungeon, the Ustad makes a private move that leaves the final minutes tense.
