In Episode 15, Mahmud Effendi has left his post as Qadi and moved his family into two rooms in the lodge’s endowment housing. He gives away most of his belongings, faces gossip from the town and from Mustafa’s classmates, and asks Sheikh Uftade for useful work. The task he receives is not what anyone expected. Giving Away the Load
Mahmud tells his family the move is for Allah’s sake, and then he starts handing out their belongings to people in need. His wife protests, but he keeps giving, and only the books and one chest stay with them. The carriage driver notes that one carriage is now enough. Mahmud explains that with so much excess one cannot truly live. At the lodge, Muhammed wonders how to give a former Qadi any tasks, and the Sheikh reminds him that Mahmud left those titles behind.
Gossip and Mustafa’s Defense
Rumors spread that the Qadi has lost his mind. Some visitors come to ask the Sheikh whether it is true. At the madrasah, Mustafa hears the same talk from other students, and a quarrel starts when Ibrahim speaks rudely. A teacher stops it and keeps Mustafa back. He tells him the others cannot grasp such a great act of renunciation, and that he should stand tall and be proud of his father. At home, Safiye welcomes neighbors who remember her teaching their children the Quran.

- select a TV to which you want to send the video
and video playback will start on your TV.
Note: Your TV and your phone, tablet, laptop or a PC need to be on the same network. It’s usually the case at home but, for example, if your phone is on mobile network and your TV is connected to your home network, casting button won’t show up on your phone because your phone doesn’t “see” your TV because they are not on the same network. Try using a different network. For example, if you have issues on your home network, you can try using your phone and it’s mobile network, in which case, your ISP is blocking the access to the video so maybe you should consider switching ISPs or using a VPS service.
The Liver Seller
Mahmud asks Sheikh Uftade for useful work, and the Sheikh sends him to buy five okkas of liver. With Mansur Effendi’s odd advice, he comes back with liver that is close to going bad. The Sheikh then orders him to put it on a stick and sell it before it spoils. Mahmud, who has never traded, ends up calling out in the street while townspeople stare, and Mustafa sees him. The episode then turns to a dream that leaves his household uneasy.
