Episode 9 opens with a conversation about trust. Numan insists that Rustem, whom he calls a brother, would not have betrayed him, while Somuncu Baba points to the story of Habil and Qabil and the danger of envy. Elsewhere, Omer hears a lesson on hypocrisy and sincerity, a visiting Sheik Efendi questions Mevlut Bey in his Konak, and Murat turns up with news that changes the search. Numan is now a fugitive, and he has to find a way to hide in plain sight.
Habil, Qabil and the Question of Trust
Numan says Rustem is like a brother to him and would not have done it. Somuncu Baba notes that someone who is truly sure would not keep pacing the room. He turns to Habil and Qabil, explaining that Qabil believed but did not give the best of what he had. Envy and hypocrisy brought about his end. Baba adds that people are not free of flaws and that some fall into error through greed or ego. The talk ends when Baba remembers the believers waiting for bread and leaves Numan in peace.
A Lesson on Hypocrisy and Sincerity
In another scene, the Sheik teaches Omer what hypocrisy and ikhlas (sincerity) mean. He quotes Fudayl ibn Iyad, who said a person must give up the respect he holds among people to reach sincerity. Good deeds should be hidden, while obligatory worship is performed openly. Omer then hesitates when he is asked what he wants to say and mentions Mullah Rustem. Tahsin Efendi reports that Rustem wants to distance himself, but the Sheik tells him to let Rustem find his own way, because his fire is too weak to burn them.

Note: Your TV and your phone, tablet, laptop or a PC need to be on the same network. A Visitor at the Konak and a New Disguise
Sheik Efendi arrives at Mevlut Bey’s Konak and talks about the Ahi tradesmen and the order in Enguru. He says no asylum is given, even if the Qadi asked for it. Mevlut Bey answers that a Qadi is a delegate and a servant, not the embodiment of justice. After the guests leave, Murat points to Kemal as the man Numan has been looking for. Somuncu Baba then tells Numan that he needs a new disguise, because the Konak is being watched and the search is not over.
